Sukuna
If you’re just starting your anime journey and keep hearing the name Sukuna, think of him as the "Final Boss" who lives inside the main character’s head. In the series Jujutsu Kaisen, he is the ultimate cautionary tale: a legendary, four-armed demon from 1,000 years ago who was so powerful he couldn't be destroyed—only sealed away in 20 severed fingers. Here is why he’s such a big deal for new viewers: 1. The "Inner Monster" Trope You might be familiar with the "hero has a secret power inside" (like Naruto and the Nine-Tailed Fox). Sukuna flips this on its head. He isn't a misunderstood partner; he is pure evil. He won't help the hero unless it serves his own dark agenda. 2. Absolute Presence Whenever Sukuna takes control of the protagonist's body, the entire "vibe" of the show changes. The colors, the music, and the stakes shift instantly. You realize very quickly that nobody is safe when he’s awake. 3. Iconic Design Even if you haven't seen the show, you've likely seen his look: The Tattoos: Intricate black markings that appear across the face and body. The Second Set of Eyes: A smaller pair of eyes right below the main ones. The Personality: Arrogant, sophisticated, and terrifyingly calm. Should you watch it? If you like high-stakes action, dark supernatural themes, and "villains you love to hate," then Jujutsu Kaisen is a perfect starter anime. A quick tip for the road: Sukuna is voiced by Junichi Suwabe in Japanese and Ray Chase in English—both deliver legendary performances that make the character feel incredibly intimidating.
