You know I am wishing to you guys whenever I want, but think about those poor animals; their friends are torn apart stranded on big blocks of ice. Today I stand up straight in my school to salute the ones who gave their today for our tomorrow: Remembrance Day originated as a solemn tribute to those who died in World War I, and has since evolved into a broader commemoration of all military personnel lost in conflicts. Remembrance Day, observed annually on 11 November, marks the anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I in 1918—when fighting ceased at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Initially called Armistice Day, it was first commemorated in 1919 across Britain and the Commonwealth, with King George V requesting a two-minute silence to honour the fallen. Over time, the day came to represent remembrance for those who died in all wars, not just the Great War. The red poppy became its enduring symbol, inspired by the poem In Flanders Fields, and is worn to honour the sacrifice of soldiers. In the UK, ceremonies are held at war memorials and the Cenotaph in London, with additional observances on Remembrance Sunday, the closest Sunday to 11 November. More than a century later, Remembrance Day continues to serve as a poignant reminder of the cost of war and the importance of peace. Remember, courage is measured not by the absence of fear but by the willingness to act for others despite it.
